My name is Izzussan, and I am proud swordmage under my lord Cailynn.
Twenty four years ago under the Jotunheim constellation, my mother went into labor at the family manor. My brother was born a happy child, smiling and welcoming life around him. Unexpectedly my mother went back into labor. I was born shortly after my brother, looking coldly on the world and cursed. I was born with a tattoo on the left side of my face and on my left arm. Fearing public and religious scrutiny my family left me on the care of an orphanage in the town of Beopool.
The name of the orphanage was Minas Finelli, and although my days were taken care of, they were secluded. People would stop by to talk with us to see which of is they would adopt, kids would stop by to play with some of the kids. But I was always by myself. I remember there was one day when I was 4 there was an old man that approached me and started to talk with me. He said “No matter what happens in life sustain the wrath of others for they will one day receive their due punishment.”. I have no idea why he said that. Maybe he thought that I needed to hear it, but he disappeared shortly after that. Even though it seemed awkward at the moment, his words stuck with me.
I developed the ability to conjure fire at will at the age of 5 so I was shunned and feared because of it. Kids attacked me out of fear but the old man’s words rang in mind again. I endured it time and time again. For 4 years I endured the pain and fueled my ‘cursed’ abilities. Through experimentation I gained the ability to levitate for a short while. Using this new ability I decided to escape.
As I was making my way through the back ways behind the orphanage, I saw this little girl climbing down from her window. This girl was Callie, the young girl that people were talking about all the time. “What was she doing” I thought. Having seen me walking by she approached me rather abruptly, and demanded that I show her around town as her bodyguard. Little did I know, but this was the start of a rambunctious duo of ‘adopted’ siblings: Izzussan, or Zuzu as Callie could call me, the protector and Callie the charismatic little girl that somehow convinced me to be her bodyguard for life.
